Leave Mumbai at 4 AM, beat the Kalyan traffic, hit Samruddhi by 6 AM, reach Nagpur by 4 PM, arrive at Moharli by 7 PM. You will not be fresh for a 6 AM safari the next morning — plan for a recovery half-day at the resort.
Plan B: Two-day drive with overnight at Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad)
This is what we recommend for couples and families.
- Day 1: Mumbai → Sambhajinagar via Samruddhi (~450 km, 6–7 hours including a lunch break). Overnight at Aurangabad/Sambhajinagar. Multiple good hotels.
- Day 2: Sambhajinagar → Tadoba via Nagpur (~400 km, 5–6 hours). Arrive Moharli by 2 PM, settled in for the next morning's safari.
The Day 2 leg is short enough that you can do the afternoon safari the day you arrive — if the gate timing fits.
Where to refuel and eat
The Samruddhi Mahamarg has 18 service interchanges with HPCL / IOCL / BPCL fuel stations on slip roads. Recommended stops:
- Igatpuri Plaza (km 60) — first major stop with food, restrooms, fuel
- Sambhajinagar / Aurangabad exit (km 230) — overnight option, or take a 1-hour Ajanta-or-Ellora detour if you have time
- Jalna interchange (km 320) — clean restrooms, mid-route fuel
- Wardha interchange (km 590) — last fuel + meal stop before Nagpur
Avoid local exit dhabas after dark — stick to interchange plazas.
