Best Time to Visit Tadoba for Tiger Sightings (2026 Guide)
The Tadoba tiger sighting rate peaks between March and June. Here is the month-by-month breakdown our naturalists use to plan trips.
Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of the few parks in India where a tiger sighting is statistically likely rather than a matter of luck. But "likely" is relative — it changes dramatically with the season, the gate you enter, and the time of day.
This is the same framework our naturalists use when we plan a guest's dates.
The short answer
If tiger sighting is your single priority: April, May, and first half of June. If you want cooler weather and greener forest: November to February. If you want fewer tourists and better prices: late October or early November.
The park is closed every Tuesday (year-round) and completely shut from 1 July to 30 September for the monsoon.
March to June — peak sighting window
This is when the dry deciduous forest thins out, water sources dry up, and tigers concentrate around the remaining waterholes. Sighting probability at core zones (Moharli, Tadoba, Kolara) climbs to 80–95% across a 4-safari package.
Trade-offs: temperatures hit 44°C by late April. Morning safaris become essential — afternoon drives are punishing. You will need long-sleeve cotton, a wide-brim hat, and more water than you think.
October to February — the comfortable season
Forest is lush, the air is crisp, and bird diversity peaks (migratory raptors arrive in November). Tiger sighting drops to around 55–70% because water is available everywhere and the cats don't need to move to specific points.
If you're bringing family, first-timers, or someone who dislikes heat, this is the right window.
What we recommend for most guests
Two options that work almost every time:
- Late April, 3 nights / 5 safaris: Best raw sighting odds. Book Moharli or Kolara gate.
- Mid-November, 3 nights / 5 safaris: Comfortable weather, good odds, bird life, cheaper rates.
Either way, Tuesdays are closed — plan your itinerary so you're not paying for a day inside the park when it's shut.
Booking ahead matters more than you think
Tadoba core-zone permits are released 120 days in advance and the premium gates sell out within hours. If you're planning a summer trip, the permit should be in hand by January. We handle this for guests on our packages, but if you're DIY, set a calendar reminder.
