Booking a Tadoba safari involves three separate things: a permit (government), a gypsy + guide (allotted with permit), and a resort (private). Most first-timers don't realise permits and resorts are booked on totally different platforms — and that's where trips get derailed.

Here's the full flow.

Step 1: Understand the zone types

Tadoba has core zones and buffer zones.

Core zones (Moharli, Tadoba, Kolara, Navegaon, Pangdi): limited permits, higher tiger density, book 120 days ahead.
Buffer zones (Agarzari, Junona, Alizanza, Devada-Adegaon, Zari): more permits, slightly lower density, bookable closer to the date.

If you want a realistic shot at a tiger, get at least one core-zone safari in your plan.

Step 2: Book the permit

The official portal is https://mahaonline.gov.in (look for "Tiger Safari Booking" under Forest Department).

Core permits open at 6 AM IST, 120 days before the safari date.
They sell out in 15–45 minutes for peak season (March–June).
You need: passport/Aadhaar for all guests, same details must match on safari day, exact travel date.

This is independent of the permit. Once you have your gate + date locked, book a property near that specific gate — driving between gates adds 40–90 minutes each way.

Step 4: Show up prepared
